How I train you

I have been a successful ADI for nearly 20 years, most of that time with the AA Driving School, some of it as an Instructor Coach and Trainer. I also continue to teach learners as it is important to keep in touch with the basic job.

"Unlike many other schools, all training is done on a one-to-one basis, ensuring you get the most out of each session"

So having got you through Parts I and II, not too tricky, we then start specific Part III training

Part III (Final Exam) Training

• You are given a set of Lesson Plans

• I run the first one past you, with you being the pupil and me the Instructor

• We reverse roles and you run it past me - in the car

• You go home and practice

• You run the 'refined' lesson plan past me again

Along with the above, we do a lot of driver fault findings and analysis. This is THE major part of the test, along with teaching at the right level for the pupil's stage of learning and ability.

We then practice the 10 Pre Set Tests - you will already have covered the 12 subjects on which the tests are based. On your exam you will have to sit one of these tests.

On the way we usually have a lot of fun - I will never forget the female trainee who, playing the role of Instructor, was trying to get me (her pupil) to adjust the driving seat rake "Now turn the er, the um, the thingy, that er, the watsit, um" I said "Julie what on earth are you saying!" she said indignantly "I'm trying to find another word for nob!" we did chuckle.
